SAVING THE WORLD for the CHILDREN

When will people look around them and say that the world is worth saving because there are innocent, little children living on every country of the earth? They don’t deserve wars, riots in their neighborhoods, drive-by shootings or any other form of brutality.

Take a long, hard look at this little boy. He is in Yemen and he is starving.

A child in Yemen
(BBC credit)

I was so touched by this child who is very sick, but when he saw the BBC camera, he was just barely able to give a little smile. (Photo from TV)

Pray for this little boy…that somehow he will get the help and food that he needs.

This BBC video showed the catastrophe happening in Yemen today. The people in the communities are still being bombed. The people have little or no food. People are walking around with the virus, saying that they won’t go to the hospital because “they will kill you there!” This is because the rumor has spread that the medical staff and doctors do “mercy killings” if you arrive there with the virus. The government, however, is denying that there are many virus cases at all…saying that they have less than 10 people who have died of Coronavirus. The people know that is a lie.

When asked by the BBC reporting staff, who were wearing masks while interviewing the people, why the people in the crowded streets were not wearing masks? They said that they didn’t have to wear masks because “Allah will protect them.” Ignorance, governmental control and war has left these people and their children in a desperate situation.

To try to understand why there is a war in Yemen in the first place, this excellent graphic given below is your best resource for understanding what is happening in the Middle East, specifically Yemen.

“The economic devastation that pushed millions to the brink of famine and created the worst cholera epidemic in living memory is no accident of war: It is the product of deliberate policies by the warring parties.

The Saudi-led coalition, with its warplanes, blockades and vast economic power, bears a large share of the blame. But the Houthis are also at fault. They have manipulated relief aid, recruited child soldiers and planted vast numbers of land mines, according to aid workers and human rights groups.

Peace talks in Sweden in December offered a faint glimmer of hope for an end to the war. A shaky cease-fire in the key port of Hudaydah is holding.

But if politics fails, many fear that Yemen could lapse into even worse fighting. Famine could become a reality. And millions of civilians would pay the heaviest price, yet again. (Watkins and Walsh)

The Holy Scriptures are very clear when it comes to harming children:

It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones. Luke 17:2

Not only are the children of Yemen being harmed, the children of America are also being harmed by what is happening in our society today. This is not to neglect writing about the sadness in all the other countries of the world. It is not to forget the fact that there is terrible trafficking of children. The more we allow anarchism to continue in our country…motivated distrust between races and an extended close-down of schools and businesses…our families and their children are going to suffer… as it tears into the fabric of our democracy. We must save our society for the children!

These are the things that need to be taught to our children and reminded to our young people:

  • They are not in the starving as the children of Yemen. We have well-stocked food banks if there is a need.
  • They are not forced to work long hours in factories as our early emigrants.
  • They haven’t lived today through a food famine in the U.S., like the children in Ireland during the Potato Famine.
  • They are not in the middle of a Great Depression like their great-grandmothers and fathers endured.
  • The children of this generation also haven’t had to live in the Martin Luther King, Jr. era when injustice was confronted head-on.
  • They need to be reminded in school and at home that because of King and others, the Civil Rights laws and changes gave opportunities to excel to all minority children.
  • All children need to know that Americans can learn to live in peace together…most people are not racists.

Why do some American young people behave badly? Perhaps they should give this some thought for if their country collapses, they may be like the children of Yemen. Yet, some continue doing these things:

  • Roaming the streets night after night
  • Destroying property
  • Setting fires
  • Attacking police
  • Shouting at people trying to peacefully eat in a restaurant.
  • Acting like they are for a “cause” when they can’t explain what the cause is all about when asked to explain their actions.
  • Shooting at children in the playgrounds and front yards
  • Being a terrible example to their younger brothers and sisters.
  • Not taking jobs that are available, even after so many lost jobs due to the virus…for work signs are still out there.
  • Sitting around waiting for hand-outs for things they should work for…like cellphones and Nike tennis shoes etc.
  • Not listening to parents, church leaders or their church clergy on how to behave…that is…unless those leaders are NOT saying anything.
These children are our Future Generations. Our prayers go out for them because the future will be theirs.

LET’S TAKE A MOMENT and LOOK at what AMERICA COULD EVENTUALLY EXPERIENCE IF WE LOSE ALL LAW AND ORDEROR IF WE ARE ATTACKED, LIKE 9-11, AND IT THROWS US INTO WAR! IT WOULD NOT BE MUCH DIFFERENT THAN THAT OF THE PEOPLE OF YEMEN.

Saving our people and our planet must be a high priority in every country. There is no choice. We must SAVE OUR WORLD FOR OUR CHILDREN! Can we do that, even with our best intentions…or the best of leaders…without TURNING TO GOD? WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THE ANSWER and it is the ONLY ANSWER FOR OUR CHILDREN TO BE SAFE.

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”  2 Chronicles 7:14

The Cost of Beauty

I am writing this blog in honor of my Mother, Alta, who owned her small beauty salon. She began working as a stylist after she left home at the age of 16. When she had her salon in North Carolina, she had some wealthy patrons among the tobacco heirs. Mostly, her clients were the average person. Those were the “good old days.”

She would be horrified to know what small business owners are going through today. We lost my Mother at the age of 93, long after she retired. Her last few months were in an assisted living and nursing home.

On a previous blog, I wrote that I thank God that she didn’t have to be without family to cheer and visit her as many have these last few months. Just today, I have learned that our Governor in Florida is once again making visits for families possible with proper precautions. We mourn for those who died all alone during this time.

What does all this have to do with the COST of beauty? I will quote what a small business owner in California, like my Mother, had to say about a very wealthy member of our Congress and the Speaker of the House.

It appears that the business owner has released to the public a scene from her security camera, showing the Speaker with a wet head and no mask over her nose or mouth, moving through the inside of the salon, after having her associate called in that she was coming in for a “wash and blow.” Like most salon owners, the owner rents out the chairs to stylists, and can’t control who their customers may be.

Oh, yes, the owner, Erica Kious, is being rebuked that she didn’t get permission to release the security clip, but she felt obligated to do so because of the fight that small business owners, like herself, have had to go through during this pandemic. She also is being shown in the press as a person who “set up” the Speaker…even though the Speaker is the one who asked to come in for the style. Kious’ response to the battle, “I’ve had a camera system in there for five years….I didn’t go in there and turn cameras on as soon as she walked in and set her up. So that is absolutely false.”

Her response also for why she released the video of the Speaker was this:

“This is for everybody,” she said. “I am sharing this because of what everyone in my industry, and my city, what every small business is going through right now.”

These battles will continue and the Press loves it, but there is much suffering going on in the small-business arena. This blog is not to write in depth here about the many small business owners who have had their businesses burned to the ground by so-called “protesters.” That could be another post.

The fact remains that those who are doing this without regard to the hard work put into developing a business is despicable. Their real names are not “protesters”, but “anarchists” and “criminals.” There is certainly NO BEAUTY in what they are doing. I wonder why the young people/or older, who go out night after night to destroy, have not learned anything about RIGHT and WRONG. No cause…or position in thought…can justify this in any way. People have died. Having hair done, or some have laughingly called “hairgate,” is small potatoes. The real point is destruction and the shut-downs.

As my readers know, history is a big teacher. The Nazi regime brought about a similar situation before WWII when they went out to destroy the hard-earned businesses of the Jews. We know how this ended…with millions incarcerated…and murdered. Whenever a mob picks a leader and gets into power, someone will be the scapegoat. There will always be a reason to blame someone for the crisis. Beware…beware…America!

A typical, high-end salon…not that of Erica Kious

( I continue with the article, in part, by Brook Singman, with an interview of Erica Kious, the small business owner of the salon in California. )

There were rules and regulations to go by to safely reopen, which I did, but I was still not allowed to open my business,” she said, noting that she installed plexiglass partitions between sinks and seating areas, and ensured that all salon chairs were six feet apart, along with proper air circulation from open windows. “They never let us open,” she said, while adding that she is unable to reopen outside because her salon specializes in hair color, and using chemicals outside is prohibited. ( “…Salons in San Francisco had been closed since March and were only notified they could reopen on Sept. 1 for outdoor hair styling services only. )

“We have been shut down for so long, not just me, but most of the small businesses and I just can’t – it’s a feeling – a feeling of being deflated, helpless and honestly beaten down,” Kious, said.

“I have been fighting for six months for a business that took me 12 years to build to reopen,” she explained. “I am a single mom, I have two small children, and I have no income.”

Kious said that the area where her salon is located has turned into “a third world country,” saying that “every other storefront is completely vacant and shut down and boarded up.”

“And because of the shutdown, and the store closures, we’ve lost people, my clients, and my employees, and that is due to the politics in San Francisco,” she said, adding that the homeless population is “everywhere” and “defecating” all over the city...

“It has gotten so extreme,” she said. “It is so night and day from what it was a year ago, that everyone is fleeing.”

___________________

It is understandable that this shop owner is upset about her business shut-down and what it has done to her years of work. Stylists, like my mother, stand on their feet for long hours, use chemical dyes to make women look younger etc, but it is how they earn their living for their families. They try desperately to go by the rules placed upon them during this pandemic. No wonder she is furious that the standards of personal engagement are for some but not all. She has lost customers due to the shut-downs that she may never regain but also because people are fleeing from the cities due to the violence and destruction. In American, small or large businesses should not have to board-up except for extreme weather…not a climate of fear brought on by people. Our son just returned from California where the hotel he was staying in was boarding up their windows because of “protesters” outside. They also warned their customers, “… you might not want to go out there.”

Every woman wants to be beautiful. There is no problem with dying the hair if it helps take some years off…but women who can’t get this done by a professional because of regulations…regardless of what they can pay or who they may be…can take themselves down to the local beauty supply store, if it’s open, and buy a box that does the trick!

All small businesses have to be reopened as soon as possible. Large department stores are also closing, leaving thousands without jobs. These hardworking men and women need to have their livelihood restored. Congratulations to Erica who braved the possible backlash of revealing those who preach to us through the media and do something different in real life. Most people I know have turned a deaf ear to all they have to say.

Thanks, Mother, for all the years that you worked so hard in your salon to be a provider for your family and also for being a good citizen. I wish there were more like you…with respect for people and property.

We, as women and men, thank the salon workers and owners…as well as the small barbershops around the country, who are finally opening with proper caution. The COST to you and your small business has been great. We won’t forget you. Hang in there!

FEAR or COURAGE?

Are you killing your inner-self? I can hear it now…”What in the world are you talking about?” I’ll explain.

This morning I read an article sent to me by the Blue Zone, which addressed something similar to this question. It was written by Richard Leider, founder of Inventure – The Purpose Company. I would like to share, in part, some of this with you. (The full link can be read by clicking his name.)

But first, have you had these thoughts in the last few months?

  • I don’t see anything in the near future, but mostly staying at home.
  • If I leave my house to shop or eat out, I might come back with the virus.
  • Should I even give a hug/or kiss to a family memberor refuse a handshake to a person who offers it?
  • What if I need to go out of state, would it be worth it?
  • If I am invited to someone’s home, should I take the chance of going?
  • What would I do if a mob should surround my car or harass me in a public place like I’ve seen on TV?

These are only a few things that may have been in your brain that has basically caused you to put your life on hold. I know many of these same questions have crossed my thoughts. I found out that the virus could be a definite trigger that stops our growth as human beings. It is then up to us to mentally decide if we are going to allow this to happen to us.

According to Richard Leifer, you have stopped living and your life is on a plateau…not moving forward…in limbo because of a “trigger.”

Before the virus and a loss of much of your freedoms, things were moving along…and forward and then it happened (the trigger)…you hit the plateau. Everything seemed to stand still. Nothing was what it used to be.

Leifer says: “…things seem like they’re under control. You have good work, good health, enough money, a solid base at home, a network of friends and colleagues with whom to share your life. At times like these, you may actually feel like you do have this whole thing figured out! Or at least you’re satisfied with the way things are.But then, inevitably, a trigger knocks you off the plateau; you leave the flat area and take a turn into a new zone, limbo.”

What exactly is a “trigger?”

…a trigger is a wake-up call—a conscious choice or an external event that disrupts the comfortable status quo of our lives. It’s a moment when the game changes, and we have to adapt to the new game.

“Triggers can be positive but most often are negative. Of course, the pandemic, economic recession, and racial unrest are all triggers. In addition, there are the personal triggers:

  • Do you know someone you care about who has just heard from a doctor with an uncertain medical diagnosis? You are concerned.
  • Do you know people who have lost their jobs after decades of stability? They don’t know which way to turn or where to start, and you share that anxiety with them, wanting to help but not knowing how.
  • Do you know someone who has been caught by surprise by an unexpected death or divorce? All of a sudden, the stability of a long-term relationship has been replaced by the unfamiliar, unwelcome experience of learning how to live alone for the first time in a long time.

These are the moments when we feel like our lives are out of control.”

If we could say “YES, MANY OF THOSE ARE MY THOUGHTS” to any of the questions given above…you may be in a limbo state and that is not comfortable.

What is a LIMBO STATE?

Being in limbo is all about learning to cope with the “in-between times.” As a result of a trigger, we’ve ended one period of stability or even one phase of life, and looking forward we don’t yet see another one beginning. We’re forced to live in the question “What’s next?” The door behind us has closed, and we haven’t seen the new doors that lie ahead. Or sometimes, although we see the new doors, we’re not yet ready to make the choice to open them.”

We are often thinking how things used to be before the virus hit and everything changed. Our country, as a whole, has been put into a spirit of fear.

“Being in limbo can be scary in the way uncertainty often is. It feels like being between two trapeze bars – hanging on to one while seeing or reaching for the other with no safety net. And it can be even more debilitating. Limbo can become a form of resignation, a kind of prison sentence to accept the way things are as the way things have to be.”

Am I in limbo?

THIS IS WHERE WE ASK OURSELVES…do we plan to live our lives in this isolated prison? Many say, “Hell NO!”…and take no precautions, which may not be smart thinking.

I’ll give an example from our recent experience to moving forward. My husband and I felt like we just needed to get out. We decided to go for a lunch together at a restaurant that we know is careful about social distancing and sterilizing tables. We chose a time early before the lunch crowd arrived. Wore our masks until we ate…and had a very nice lunch. Another example is that a friend of ours ask us out to their house for a meal. They have not been sick and neither have we, so we accepted their gracious invitation. Both couples are extremely tired of isolation and we have made a decision to go forth with our lives…carefully and thoughtfully. There could be more illustrations, but everyone has their own decisions to make on what is proper for them and their family.

Making these small, forward moves brings us one step further OUT OF the limbo state and a beginning to climb out of the plateau flatness of life. Probably the most profound thing that Richard Leider wrote is the following:

“The worst-case scenario for those who succumb to limbo is “inner kill”—the condition of dying without knowing it. People with inner kill often feel that they either don’t have enough or aren’t good enough. They get stuck living in comparison with others or with some idealized, unattainable version of themselves. You have inner kill when you’ve stopped maturing, growing, or ripening, and, when you’ve given up on yourself, or when you find yourself always taking the easy, safe way. ”

As far as our virus concerns and isolated living, we may fit into what he said by comparing what we are doing to live through this time as to what others are doing. Did you ever say, “Look at those people…they aren’t wearing masks…or they are standing too close to someone!!” I am guilty because I am concerned…but does that help? The answer is “NO.”

We must remember that people will make their choices and we have to make ours. There is no way under heaven to control the masses…or an individual. The media, especially at this pre-election time, will be certain to point out what society should be doing or fails to do. Those who speak for medicine often change their thoughts from week to week. That is because everyone, including these experts, are still trying to figure things out. Nothing will be fairly stated online or on media because of varied viewpoints…so why listen?

Therefore, once again it is up to us to do the best we can with what knowledge we have. Of course, being bombarded day to day doesn’t help in the “out of control” feelings that most have…when they see society out of control. A limited amount of this permeating into our brains might be a good idea.

Leider leaves us with a good challenge: The question isn’t whether we’ll be hit by triggers or get kicked into limbo. We will—all of us, at every phase of life, in all kinds of ways. The question is how we’ll react when triggers come, and we find ourselves in limbo. Do we retreat? Or step into the uncertainty? Respond out of fear? Or move forward with courage?

The Holy Scriptures gives us this a blueprint for living a life without fear and full of courage.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7

What’s Next…Invisible Tattoos?

Life is beginning to open up to some degree around the world. This is good news and a hope that fewer people will contract the Coronavirus and more lives will be spared. In some areas, there are spikes and as people become less careful, we may see more.  Why write this article then…if, indeed, there is light at the end of the tunnel?  Well, not so fast! We need to think about what may come next…not another Pandemic, hopefully, but what else might be in the future for us.  We really don’t know.

First, let me say that Boyer Writes is a Christian blog for inspiration and encouragement.  However, in the last few months, I have researched various articles online that have made me sit up and take notice!  This has led me to believe that from time to time, this blog should also become INFORMATIVE.  Once readers have some material to digest, he or she can make their own decisions on whether to be concerned or not.  Frankly, I am.

Workplace vision problems

What then is the “INVISIBLE TATTOO” title for this writing all about?

As the world races to find a cure or vaccine for the World Pandemic of the Coronavirus, it seems that we, around the world, should not be blind-sided by researches and proposals which are in the works…even if the final product of the research should be years away.

Read the article that I am going to share with you carefully.  It could be our future…yours and mine. If not ours, our children’s and grandchildren’s.  Just as the world, in 2020, was subject to a lock down of businesses, schools and universities closed, “shelter in place” and “social distancing” became realities, most people could not believe it was happening. Yet, it definitely was!    The cry now, as the gradual opening has begun, is “Just get us BACK TO NORMAL before more businesses and lives are totally ruined!”

The article you are about to read reflects this cry.  It may be the very HOPE of all mankind that will be used to propagate what the powerful within world organizations, like the U.N., Heads of countries around the world and local officials within the community use to control our lives literally. It may be at that point that a live or die choice may have to be made.  I can hear the reader now…”Oh, that is putting it a little strong!!”   I certainly pray it is.

How could this proposal of using a vaccine tattoo, as an immunity passport actually work?

Appealing to what may seem the “reasonable” thing to do…for the “Good of all” could be what the next billboards could advertise, TV updates promote, Facebook and other social medias could also declare. Just as it does now on how many have been tested for the virus…with almost hourly updates.

People around the world by Laura Makaltses submitted to UN

World Health Organization by Aron PW

It could simply start at first with an app for your phone that you MUST show. If you are one of the elderly or disabled that don’t use apps or even use a cell phone, there would be another way that could be thought of. You can be assured, it is being thought of.  This appeal to doing the “common sense” thing in order to lure the masses into believing what all should do is not a new tactic. Remember World War II?   I think we call it “propaganda.”

“Propaganda is the spreading of information in support of a cause. It’s not so important whether the information is true or false or if the cause is JUST or NOT.” (Dicitionary.com)

Again, I repeat, this blog is being written that none of us should be “technologically blindsided” when things eventually come our way. After you read this article, I will leave it up to you to decide if you think this proposal of creating a digital identification through the use of a tattoo is a JUST cause.

The following information, in part, is from an Australian post,  Tott News, Australia’s Front Line, May 14, 2020  Ethan Nash, Communications and multimedia specialist.

(A link for this entire article will be at the end of this blog post)

ARE IMMUNITY PASSPORTS AND VACCINE TATTOOS COMING?

“Researchers have created a ‘dissolvable ink’ that can be embedded in the skin via microneedle vaccination, creating a barcode ‘tattoo’ only visible when using a smartphone application.

As society enters a new ‘COVIDSafe’ framework in anticipation for a vaccine, how will these tracking discoveries be incorporated with pushes for ‘immunity passports’ and digital ID?  Could the introduction of tracing applications and the ID2020 immunisation program all just be pieces of a larger system to come? Etan Nash explores.

The way vaccinations are received and monitored may be about to radically change in the near future, with new discoveries allowing for the potential to expand traditional models.

A recent December 2019 study published in Science Translational Medicine describes the development of ‘quantum dot tags’ that fluoresce with information as part of a vaccine injection.

Kevin McHugh, an Assistant Professor of Bioengineering at Rice University, and bioengineers Robert Langer and Ana Jaklenec from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, conducted the research:

“McHugh et al. developed dissolvable microneedles that deliver patterns of near-infrared light-emitting microparticles to the skin. Particle patterns are invisible to the eye but can be imaged using modified smartphones.

By codelivering a vaccine, the pattern of particles in the skin could serve as an on-person vaccination record.

Different to traditional injection methods, researchers have tested on rats biometric ‘tags’ that can be incorporated via sugar-based microneedles on a patch.

Revised Figure 1 11-24-19

When the needles dissolve in about two minutes, they deliver the vaccine and leave a unique pattern of tags just under the skin, where they become something like a bar-code tattoo. Research into dissolvable microneedles has become a recent phenomenon, and the new developments suggest the invisible ‘tattoo’ is a pattern made up of minuscule “quantum dots”. These are described as tiny semiconducting crystals that reflect light — glowing under infrared light.

dissolvable microneedles or invisible tattoo quantum dots

Here is where things get interesting. An article published by Rice University on the findings reveals that, you guessed it, Bill Gates has played a part in the development of this research.

McHugh, who was recruited to join Rice with funding from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (committee includes former Gates advisors), described the following events:

“The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation came to us and said, ‘Hey, we have a real problem — knowing who’s vaccinated’.

They said, ‘We go on vaccination campaigns where people get into Hummers, drive to a rural village, set up a tent and start immunizing people, but they don’t always know who’s been immunized before and what vaccines are still needed.”

McHugh says funding from the foundation and institute allowed the team’s research on ‘quantum-dot’ tattoos to come to life — which is primarily targeted at children. He continues:

“The square-centimeter patches hold up to 16 tiny needles. They don’t go very deep, which makes them theoretically painless and a lot easier for kids

They’re like putting on a bandage.”

The paper also suggests the technology could be useful “in the developing world” for “intradermal on-person vaccination recordkeeping”.

This is important to note when you consider current campaigns being undertaken in third-world countries by the Gates family and other private organisations. The central themes? Vaccination uptake and digital identification databases.

Could there be a link between ‘quantum dot’ research and ongoing ‘philanthropist’ programs?

The ongoing push for digital identification is not a new occurrence, however, the concept has become increasingly prevalent in many societies in recent years.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The United Nations Agenda 2030 states as part of Sustainable Development Goal — a target to “provide legal identity to all, including birth registration, by 2030”.

In recent years, a new project called ID2020 has emerged, consisting of a public-private coalition which advocates for digital identification for a billion undocumented people worldwide.

The ‘ID2020 Summit’ was held at the United Nations headquarters in New York in June 2017. Microsoft and Accenture attended, as well as ‘humanitarian’ groups including the World Food Programme and the UN Refugee Agency.  (Accenture is an Irish consulting company whose current clients include 91 of the Fortune Global 100 and more than three-quarters of the Fortune Global 500.)

The meeting discussed creating digital identification for every person on the planet.  One that is tied to fingerprints, birth certificates, medical records, education, travel, bank accounts and more.

Working with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the ID2020 group soon drafted a formal articulation of their perspective on ‘ethical approaches’ to digital identity.

The stage was set, but just how will this team achieve such an objective and deliver on the Agenda 2030 plan?…

Bill Gates, a man who has been at the forefront of a push for mass vaccination of the planet, has also floated the idea of ‘digital certificates’ that could be used to prove COVID-19 vaccination status:

“What we’ll have to have is certificates of who’s a recovered person – who’s a vaccinated person, because you don’t want people moving around the world where you’ll have some countries that won’t have it under control.”

In Australia, the mainstream media is now beginning to push this agenda through online polls and television programs, with many predicting a firmer push to come along in the months ahead:  ‘…the Chili, UK, US and Germany are also considering the idea to get the healthy back to work…’ …

The new, all-encompassing digital identity will also link to emerging smart city infrasturcture  and all programs will be linked to Australia’s 5G network and the Internet of Things (IoT).

Once merged into a complete digital version of a person, annual COVID-19 vaccines will become a requirement and compliance will be stored on the application. Is your smartphone and vaccine barcode up-to-date, citizen?

Is this the future you want for your children and grandchildren? Will Australians wake up to this ongoing Agenda 2030 plan in time?”  …

ALL PEOPLE should ask the same question. We, here at Boyer Writes ask how this proposal, should it come to pass, would have ethical or religious concerns…not to speak of the encroachment into one’s privacy and independent thinking.  The average person does not know what is taking place in governments, the U.N. and other places, which can be most disturbing.  The digital, embedded identification will most likely be sold to the public with these words:

  • “It is for the good of everyone.”
  • “Your easy-to-read digital identification of good health will get you back to work and help your employer to keep you safe.”  (This sale may not tell people that it will keep those WITHOUT the digital ID…out of the business workplace…customers or employees.   Would that include places like grocery stores?)
  • ” You are helping societies to rebuild.”    (All of these makes one believe that you would be a good citizen to comply…or bad citizen to refuse.)

It is not only confusing, but disturbing because you realize you are handing over to authorities complete control of your life. However, we have Holy Scripture to lean upon and we must ask for God’s guidance with our future.

For God is not a God of confusion but of peace   1st Corinthians 14:33a

You may have read the book, The Cost of Discipleship, written by Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Bonhoeffer was an Christian pastor and theologian, a dissident, who made his decision to take a stand over Nazi control… even though other clergy were going along with the governmental sentiment at the time.  He was arrested and died in the Flossenburg Concentration Camp in Germany in 1945.

How does this illustration apply to this post?   If you think hard enough about liberty, personal belief, and consequences…you are sure to get the picture of what could lay ahead in years to come unless God should intervene or mankind stands up for freedom of choice.  Even in this Pandemic, people who chose to open early their own businesses, while abiding by precautions, were arrested, fined, or lost their business license.  Some State Governors took on the role of a “complete authority.” The last thing this writer wants to be is pessimistic about the future, but we should all be wise and, as mentioned, INFORMED.

WHO WILL GO? SEND ME

woman with candles

Recently, a person asked my husband, a retired Navy Chaplain and Episcopal priest, to come over to bless his house.  To be perfectly honest, I had my hesitations.  We were only briefly acquainted with them and there was the natural concern about whether they had contact with anyone with the Coroavirus during this Pandemic.  The gentleman said that his family was well.  Our county had fewer cases of the virus than some in Florida, but regardless, it was a concern.  My husband assured me that I need not go to the house blessing, if I felt uncomfortable. He would go alone. So, I began to pray… and out of the blue…

I read this statement by a father about his son serving in an ICU.

Matt-McCarty-MD

“This is a photo of my son, Dr Dillon Keenan McCarty MD. He is a third year Internal Medicine resident working the night shift staffing Baton Rouge General ICU along with another 3rd year resident and 3 respiratory therapists taking care of an unheard of 42 severely ill COVID patients on ventilators. They are making some hard decisions . He has always been one to not back down from a fight and was made for this time. Health care professionals are at an extremely high risk of catching this disease and some patients in his unit are young. Over 70 doctors in Italy died caring for patients in this epidemic. On this Palm Sunday, I am reminded of Isaiah 6 :8 where Isaiah has a vision of God, yet feels unworthy to the task. And I heard the voice of the Lord saying,

‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.’

Pray for all our providers young and old for their courage and health. Matt McCarty MD”

Sometimes I don’t know if my writings, through Boyer Writes blog, mean anything to anyone, but this father’s words certainly meant something to me. I wrote in one of my devotional books about trying to decide whether to go to Mongolia and every time I sang a hymn with the words, Here I am, Lord,  written by Dan Schutte, I knew my answer.  I had to go because God was leading me there. When the Holy Spirit is speaking, a person can not get it out of their mind. God is the “hound of heaven.”

(chorus) Here I am, Lord. It is I Lord.
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, where you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.

This house-blessings was in my own neighborhood…for crying out loud…not at the ends of the earth!!!   If I would go to Mongolia, Ukraine or Guatemala to serve God, why would I hesitate to go in my own home town?  Fear is a strong factor in our lives…even if we call it “precaution.”  Don’t be fooled, the evil one who would want a house and family NOT to be blessed, will heap as much fear upon us as it takes!

Putting on our masks, we went on our way.  The House Blessing turned out to be a special time for this family. Each room and family member were prayed over in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  As my husband and I left the house, a large, bright rainbow appeared in the sky…a blessing from God to us all.

NEW BOOKS by N.W.Boyer

I’m happy to share with you two of my new books that are now online at Amazon.  It has been a time to consider my writing and what type of contribution I can give to those readers who are experiencing these weeks and months of virus sadness and weariness.

First, for all those who have lost loved ones to this dread disease, please know my heart and prayers are with you.  To those whose lives have been turned upside down through financial distress or ruin, my prayers are for you each night.  My hope is that my books, shown below, will be helpful and inspirational to face life anew.

  • The book I decided to write during these troubled times is first for children and parents, who want their children to understand what the world is facing.   Getting out my paints, I challenged myself to illustrate and as a retired educator, to remember what my students age 9-12 would understand and enjoy.  I decided to use our Golden Retriever, Bella, as the main character.

The book for adults, young adults and even teens is:  (links)  FAITH  DEVOTIONAL BOOK 5   or FAITH and the WORLD-WIDE PANDEMIC.   Both books have the same content, but different covers.  Take a look and see what you think:

Sailing Forward…The Test of Time

During this time of self-isolation, I continue to write, but I also stop to paint when I truly want to relax.  My art is nothing like a professional, but I love the freedom it gives to paint whatever is in my mind.  Usually it has something to do with God’s nature…a flower, tree, or anything beautiful.  As we sail along on this time of testing, we know that life will continue.

Nothing ever stands still…not time, events, or even our own living breath.   Each moment we live is different from the last.  We will move forward and it will be ours to find the peace God wants us to have.  It may be in reading our favorite books, working in the garden, painting or sewing some special thing. We should also make this time to sit down to read God’s Holy Scriptures,  an inspiring book or to be consistent in praying.  We have the choice of how we will face these times.

One of the things that my husband and I have enjoyed has been the ability to travel. We may not be doing much of this in the time to come, but we remember with fondness some of our favorite trips.  Going to Japan ranks very high on the list.

First time I went to Japan was as an educator, invited by the Japanese government.  The second time was with my husband who had at one time been to Japan as a U.S. Navy Chaplain.  It was great to return together.   Being a part of another culture has always intrigued and delighted me. There is so much to learn.  Perhaps the thing I come away with from getting to know different parts of the world is how much we are really alike. We work, play,  and often make our faith a honored part of living.

I’m sharing with you a video by the artist, Akiane Kramarik, who has an amazing God-given talent. Akiane has taken her art around the world and in doing so, as a young woman has gained insight into  the beauty of all people.  It is even more true as we know that the whole world is trying to rise above the difficulties of the time. As we have heard many times, we are in this TOGETHER.

On this trip, she talks about visiting Japan and what it meant to her.  She stresses that we have a need to SAIL FORWARD…even before she had any knowledge about a world-wide pandemic about to happen. You will notice that the people of Japan are going about their daily business in large groups.  Such were the “good old days.”  Go with me now on a tour  of Japan with Akiane.  At the end, she will demonstrate her incredible artistic talent.

This blog post is also presented as a gift to all Mothers around the world and especially those who have found it difficult to see family, whom they love, during the coronavirus…and especially on this MOTHER’S DAY!

STAYING AT HOME…YOU’RE NOT ALONE

People around the whole world are feeling the pressure of the “stay at home” regulations.  States in the U.S. and many countries are trying to open slowly, but safely…  while waiting for the danger of the coronavirus to pass and a new vaccine is discovered.

After resting a while during the weekend from writing, I decided to think about some people I know and their plight with being confined.  Then I’d like to turn our attention to something a little more light-hearted.

staying home 2020

My blogging friend in England is keeping a running journal of his days in quarantine.  He is situated out in the country and not in the big city of London.  Nevertheless, whether staying in a packed apartment building in New York City or out in the countryside, the feeling is the same.    What do I do with myself today?

Planning for “staying put” is not easy on anyone.  My English friend is pressing ahead, however, and working out plans for his future business which has been a great tour guide in the past.  He may be expanding, possibly into Scotland.  He thinks that entrepreneurs do their best during critical times…they come up with ideas!  Right on…go for it, Stephen!!

Our son is working from home these days with conference calls from Japan, Australia, Germany or other places that are his business concerns, besides the United States.  His airline just cancelled his booked trip to Australia.  Frustrated plans, I’m certain, but a better day will come! Some things are totally out of our hands.

His good friend, who is from Switzerland, has planned a wedding in Venice, (not Venice, Florida)  which he is still hopeful will happen in August…but who knows?   He’ll cross that bridge when he gets there.

More difficult for others are those who are in retirement homes and nursing facilities and can’t have their loved ones visit.  We have talked to two people recently who are told that they can’t go out of their rooms. Can you imagine the mental anguish for those confined to one room and four walls? Not enough can be said about their situation. It is not only difficult for the elderly, but for their families who love and miss being with them.    Keep making those regular calls to these friends and family because they REALLY need you.    This too will eventually end for those so confined, but the waiting and loneliness must be almost intolerable.

Another friend of ours is trying to make it especially helpful for the children.  They are making water slides and fun games for the children to play outside.  Even our dogs feel the cooped up problem when they whine and push their wet nose against our arms. they seem to be begging to go out.  “Hey, when is my walk…outside??!!

The nicest young boy in our neighborhood is being home schooled, but occasionally he is seen zooming up and down the street on his little scooter.  Hey, a guy can only learn so much!    To his Mom, who is trying to work from home and be a teacher as well, I can only smile and say, “Mom, you are investing in the future of the world…for he may be the scientist or doctor to kill off a future virus!  Hang in there!”

So having empathized as much as I can with all of you stranded, isolated, stay-at-homers,  I’d like to end with a little humor.  We all need a chuckle!

Here are some talented singers who know exactly how you have been feeling because they feel it too.   They composed their song while staying apart to dramatize life in the last weeks…going on months.  We expect that they will sing again TOGETHER before long.   Thanks, Guys,  for your creative spirit!!

MASKS and PATRIOTISM

Renfro SocksThere is an interesting story about a sock company, Renfro Sock Corporation of Mt. Airy, N.C, that is just down the mountain from where we lived part-time in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.   As we took the narrow road that snaked down the mountain from Virginia into North Carolina, we often noticed their building near one of our favorite “mom and pop’s” eating places. Renfro, it turns out, is now producing masks by the thousands!

Our hats are off to this company and others that are helping out people in need during this pandemic.   As people cover their faces, the Coronavirus will be slowed down considerably.

“Renfro Corp., a sock manufacturer based in Mount Airy,  North Carolina has produced a mask to help minimize the spread of the novel coronavirus. Around 60,000 masks will be provided at no cost to low-income residents through faith-based organizations in and around Winston-Salem.” (from

SHORT VIDEO ON RENFRO  Turn up sound:

As seen in this video, Renfro’s emphasis on MADE IN AMERICA, is most important if we are to have the medicines and equipment needed without dependence upon other countries.  We have the know-how, so let’s do it!

Boyer Writes is taking a deep breath from blogging/listening to continuous news coverage and will relax the next few days. Hopefully, you will do the same, but we would like to share one more thing with you before signing off.

Companies, like Renfro, are patriotic and family oriented.  We found, while living in this area that patriotism is strong in the Blue Ridge.  Renfro is reaching out to the community.  People in America pull together.

Those who left the mountains to serve our country were patriots as well.  It is our privilege to share with you a musical story from the mountains that may have been typical of many in the N.C. and VA areas in the Blue Ridge.  (Home Free – Go Rest High On That Mountain  – Vince Gill )

The Hands of God…for Troubled Times

This morning I sat down at my piano. My expertise is minimal, but nevertheless, I love certain songs that I attempt to play.  My former music teachers, both when I was age 10 and the one I had most recently, would be happy about my efforts.  None the less, we as humans know our abilities and our short-comings.

One thing that is difficult for many, myself included, is to truly trust God through troubled times.  I mean really…really trust.  “Into Your hands, Dear God, I put my trust.  Keep me well and those I love.”   Yet, we know that many people have prayed that same prayer and may have someone at this moment clinging to life.  It is a true, heart-felt prayer…but one, too often difficult to actually believe with ALL our heart.   We are frail.  We are weak. Only God is strong and all knowing.

Today, I would like to share with you two songs.  One is called ALL I ASK OF YOU from the Phantom of the Opera.  When in New York, my husband and I were able to see this wonderful production, but this song has a really special meaning to me each time I play it. I’d like to share it with you.

When our Golden Retriever, Gracie, was fourteen years old and very sick, we knew her time on earth was running out.  We called our vet, who graciously said he would come to our house and put her to sleep.  Her bed, where she laid comfortably, was next to my piano.  She always liked to be close to me when I played.  I looked over at her, knowing what was about to happen, and I said, “Gracie, this song is for you.”  She looked at me with that loving look and as I began to play, she gave a long sigh and closed her eyes.  Now, I can never play “All I Ask of You” without remembering that sigh.  About an hour later, with prayers over her, for God’s beautiful animals, she breathed her last.  She was gone, but forever in our hearts.

Some of the words to All I Ask of You are these:

” No more talk of darkness… forget these wide-eyed fears.  I’m here. Nothing can harm you. My words will warm and calm you. Le me be your freedom. Let daylight dry your tears. I’m here with you, beside you to guard you and to guide you…  Let me be your shelter.  Let me be your light. Your’re safe. No one will find you…your fears are behind you…”

Of course these words were being sung to someone who loved another person.  Yet, I could not think that they also apply to our relationship with God.   He wants us to know that He is here with us; to dry tears and to always be our shelter.

The second song is one made famous by Elvis Presley.  It is ONE PAIR OF HANDS. Thanks to a dear friend who brought this song to my attention during this Coronavirus.  If you are a young person reading this, you may not have heard of Elvis, but many thought he was quite the rage in years past.  For certain, with his music, you could understand the words. Many of them were love songs.  We danced to his songs and listened to his great voice.  Unfortunately, he died of a drug overdose, which was such a tragedy and a waste of his talent and a life that could have been a blessing for many years. Ironically, he first started singing in his church.

The words to “One Pair of Hand” are shown on the video below.    While listening, ponder this….Christ wants you to place your life and those you love firmly in His Hands.
