When we were children, it was always fun to have a secret hide-out or a special place to call just our own. My children would often turn chairs over and drape sheets over them to make a tent in which they could play for hours. Of course in those days, there was no cell phone to hunch over and imagination was the name of the game. It was their secret place.
Did you know that the Holy Scriptures talks about a “secret place” also.
“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; My God in Him I will trust.” Psalm 9:1-2
I can think of nothing better than to be under the shadow of God. To have His shadow upon me, would mean that He is with me at all times. To have Him as a refuge and the strength of a fortress is the greatest security anyone could ask for.
When your thoughts become ones of uncertainty, keep reminding yourself that God’s shadow over you means that you are in His “secret place.” You are His child and He cares for you.
The next time your child or grandchild can think of nothing to do…turn over a few chairs and give him/her a couple sheets to build a special place that they can call their own…their “secret place”…everyone needs one.
As an adult, we have to find for ourselves the special place…a quiet place that we can call our own. It is in this secret place that we meet God in prayer and devotion. Find yours today.
