WISDOM and FORGIVENESS

When we think of “knowledge,” it is different somehow from the word associated with it...”wisdom.” Wisdom has a lofty, high sound and, in some cases, is a word that most of us may feel is beyond us. What then…is the difference?

Knowledge is the information you have learned, while wisdom is the ability to use that knowledge in a profound way. So, knowledge is a part and wisdom is the whole. Wisdom goes beyond learning facts and includes making sense of those facts. (yourdictionary.com)

If you could have anything that your heart desires, what would it be? Perhaps it would be a million dollars, a large home, a fancy car, good health and a long loving life…or to travel the world? :

Let’s take a look at Solomon in the Holy Scriptures:

God gave a choice to Solomon of anything he wanted. (God said) Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked riches or wealth or honor or the life of your enemies, nor have you asked long life—but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself, that you may judge My people over whom I have made you king— wisdom and knowledge are granted to you; and I will give you riches and wealth and honor, such as none of the kings have had who were before you, nor shall any after you…” (2 Chronicles 1:11-12, NKJV).

Are you surprised that Solomon wanted WISDOM, when given an amazing offer by God?

It is important to see that God first looked at Solomon’s heart and gave him wisdom, as Solomon had desired. God also went a step further, He rewarded him with the things he had not asked for…wealth and honor. Does this mean that we can have wealth also if our hearts are right? Some Christians who preach and accept the “prosperity gospel” think that you can have it all. I think not. Christ is not a path of affluence to be used for our own purposes. He has also told us that by following Him, life will not always be easy or comfortable because we will be entering into the ” His sufferings.” God will bless as He sees fit.

To see into the heart is an almost impossible thing for one person to do to another. We can see actions of self-sacrifice, love and good will that gives some indication of one’s heart. Nevertheless, it is God who reads the thoughts and hearts of men and women. What would he read in your heart today? Would it be bitterness? Could it be resentment? If so, God wants to take these life destroying emotions away.

One of THE GREATEST PARTS of WISDOM we can find today may be the WISDOM TO FORGIVE.

Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” Ephesians 4

What if someone does not ask you for forgiveness when they have hurt you? What then? Pray. God will give the answer, for He is the God of Wisdom and will impart it to you.

If the person does say, “I’m sorry for what has been between us.” What then? Christ gave the answer. When asked about the number of times to forgive, Christ said… not just ‘seventy” times, but “seventy x seventy.” Giving this number was simply to let us know that there is no limit to our forgiving another person… because God forgives us when we ask. He has set no limits.
