There is a young man named Josh Hill, along with his father, Rick Hill, who can tell you what too many drinks can do to a life. They know first hand what the big deal is…whereas many think that any form of alcohol is only a social and a cool way to share a night with friends.
Being from Florida part of the year, I found these statistics very informative:
Research into driving arrests in Florida, based upon DUI (Driving Under the Influence) laws, have some pretty scary stuff to consider. For instance: Florida is higher than the national average for rates of death caused by drunk driving. In Florida, men between the ages of 21 and 34 are at the highest risk of dying in an alcohol-related car crash. Florida reports 2.1% of adult drivers admit to driving after drinking too much; this is higher than the rest of the country (1.9%). One in three traffic deaths in the United States is an accident involving a drunk driver. In Florida, you are considered legally drunk when your blood alcohol content (BAC) is 0.08% or more. This may not feel “drunk” to you, you may think you only have a slight “buzz.”
My husband and I met Josh Hill and his father, Rick, at a restaurant here in Virginia last evening. We felt that his story is one that should be told, especially for those who would stop for a pack of beer this evening or make one’s way up to the bartender in a very nice social atmosphere. Remember also that “Friends don’t let friends drink and then drive.” TAKE THE KEYS AND SAVE A LIFE…maybe your own.
Boyer Writes presents Rick and Josh Hill as interviewed. Be certain to view the 2nd video.
What is the actual cost of one who is injured because someone drove while drunk? The Hills can tell you the real cost of a carton of beer.
